As a pianist and amateur of Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin above all, I could never have imagined myself  developing a real passion for hip hop.

By the way, I dare call Beethoven, the grand father of Jazz.  Listen to his piano Sonate 29 and you’ll be surprised and smile  hearing the really jazzy part!

Let’s get back to Hip Hop and R&B!

My teenagers daughters  introduced me to the fascinating facets of hip hop music and dance.

So, whatever your age and origin, join us on this website to share  the last trends of what seems to be a long lasting and universal innovative culture, may be a revolutionary one after the Rock ’n' Roll of the 50’s. 

We’ll concentrate on Hip Hop and R&B also known as Rap, and Rhythm and Blues respectively.

As contemporary Hip Hop is not only music and dance  It is a lifestyle for the young American generation, so we’ll talk about he cloth, jewelry that fits with their personalities.

For those who wants do better understand contemporary Hip Hop, let’s explore the origins as they go even further from the African-American rap tradition using words mixed with drum rhythm.    

Contemporary R&B  is now the American expression to designate the R&B/Hip hop  the sound of which being based more  on rhythm than Hip hop soul . Contemporary R&B also developed after years of urban R&B and we still feel in contemporary R&B the classic soul.  Soulful R&B continues to be popular.

Hip hop, Urban and alternative Rap are now considered as related style of Contemporary R&B

From 1990 the popularity of R&B / Hip Hop has been increasing significantly both among the worlds of music and dance worldwide; the universality of R&B / Hip Hop is now recognized.

Who could have believed in ’79 that hip hop would grow to what it is represents in the years 2000.

In fact those revolutionary new sounds appeared on the billboard for the very first time in ’79.

Do some of you recall the “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang? That was the first hip hop song to enter the Billboard’s top 40 in ’80!

Even though  R&B  seems to focus  more and more on solo artists rather than groups,  The Black Eyed Peas, for instance, among other groups  have enjoyed worldwide pop success and are renown for  their pop/dance-influenced style of hip-hop music.
